Well, unfortunately I wasn’t going to make to WTAC this year, so on Wednesday the decision was made that HoonTV would instead go to watch some motorbike racing instead. Knowing that Anthony Hamilton from Race Bike Services was heading to Philip Island this weekend to look after Nic Liminton‘s LDA Racing Yamaha YRD R6s, I jumped in the van the next morning at 3am and we headed off.
Quick back story on Nic, he’s 19 and started racing 7 years ago. At age 13 he was obviously super fast went to Spain to race the Spanish Championship on a Moto 3 bike for local team. After this he came back to Australia and tested on a 600 until he was old enough to race ASBK – Australian Superbikes in Supersport where he is now.

Fast forward to earlier this year and two rounds into the championship he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Terrible news for a young guy to hear, but thankfully with surgery and treatment he came out of it and was given the clear to get back on the bike.
Last round at Winton in was 4th fastest overall, which is an awesome result considering he up against the factory teams!
Today so far he’s been riding against a gremlin in the piggy-back ECU which has meant the bike has been down on power. Once the team had diagnosed the problem, a quick call to the local supplier who had one on the shelf, and then in an ASBK first, an Uber driver was ordered from the other side of Melbourne to bring it down.
Thankfully the problem seems to be fixed and Nic is confident that he’ll get back to his normal pace! Bring on Saturday, Sunday and more of this amazing weather!
